EMS News From Around the JHPC Region

-Second Annual Fairfield County Hero awards honor EMS Personnel From AMR, as well as Fairfield Fire, and the State Police

Bridgeport's Trauma Department recognized AMR and Fairfield Fire and State Police for their performance during the tragic accident involve the Yale College Students earlier this year. Also recognized were Larry Keyes and Jennifer Wilson for the excellent care provided in the care of a Severely head injured child for Trumbull EMS. Salutations to all these institutions from JHPC for a job well done!

 

-Southwest EMS  Guidelines are now posted! Date: Jan 2003

    These guidelines are the latest release from Southwest EMS and are available in PDF format from JHPC!

 

-Mobile Intensive Care Staff Services required to provide quarterly updates of active staff to JHPC! Date: Dec 2002

This is a step to aid JHPC in keeping better track of the current licensure and level of training for all MICS staff operating in the JHPC region. In the end we help it will aid our QA and recertification and renewal processes!

 

 

-Device to confirm ETT placement required on all ALS units operating under JHPC Medical control! (ETCO2 units to be required on all units by 2005!) Date: Dec 2002

This is in accordance with the current AHA ACLS guidelines, which also require some a commercial device in place to secure ETT tubes once they are in position!

 

LMA to be endorsed as the difficult airway device of choice on ALS units operating under JHPC medical control! Inservices  are to begin in late January/ February. (Guidelines to be posted!)  Date: Dec 2003

CME to be extended at the inservices to be provided! Current certification accepted if the proper documentation submitted to JHPC!

 

JHPC to require all ALS units to have 12 lead recording/transmitting capability by 2005! (Inservices to begin in January!) Date: Dec 2002

All Pediatric Trauma Codes are to be brought to Bridgeport Hospital! (See Details!) Date: Dec 2002
